Will your CE courses be recognized by my licensing board?
Our experience is that most licensing boards and institutions that require CE credits related to clinical work recognize courses provided by sponsors approved by the American Psychological Association (APA), but we always recommend that you check with your board or institution if you have any questions about their requirements.
How do I begin a course?
Simply order it. You will be registered automatically. Courses are available online immediately, 24/7!
I’m not a clinician. May I take your courses?
Absolutely! We don’t restrict access to our courses. Many researchers and others interested in the clinical field find our courses valuable to increasing their knowledge. Feel free to contact us if you have any questions or concerns.
How long do courses take to complete?
Each CE credit is designed to take 1 hour to complete. So a 1-credit course would take approximately 1 hour and an 8-hour course would take 8 hours, etc. Course description include the CE credits earned by each course. Our courses range from 1 to 8 CE credits in length and you may pace yourself at your convenience.
Will I be able to review my courses later?
Certainly! Even after courses are completed, you will have access to your course library and certificates.
How soon will I get my certificate of completion after a course?
As soon as you’ve passed a test, you’ll have access to your Certificate of Completion, which may be downloaded or printed then or later at your convenience.
What are the tests like?
Each course is followed by a multiple choice test, which gives immediate corrective feedback so that the test can be part of the learning process as well. APA requires a passing score of 75% and each test may be taken up to three times if needed.
How do I begin the full certificate program for the Certificate of Advanced Study in Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy?
Simply email the Director with your intention to pursue the certificate program. You may do so at any time during the process, whether it’s at the start of the courses or after you’ve taken several. And there’s no obligation if you change your mind.
Is there a time limit to complete the certificate program?
You may proceed as quickly as you choose and you have a full 3 years from the start of your first course to the completion of the 48 CE credits required for the certificate. You may pace yourself at your convenience!
Is the certificate program APA-approved?
APA approves institutions to sponsor continuing education for psychologists. The certificate is built from our courses, which all earn CE credits.
How can earning the Certificate of Advanced Study in Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy help me?
Our institute certificate program will allow you to focus your continuing education, so that your advanced study in psychoanalytic psychotherapy is documented and can be recognized by others professionally. Professional development as a clinician is a lifelong process and, ideally, involves continuing education coursework that reflects a thoughtful plan that can help you develop expertise in an area that will be relevant to your work. Our certificate program has been developed with that goal in mind. Of course, what the certificate will or won’t allow you to do will depend on the rules and regulations of your region, institution, board, etc.
Which courses are required for the certificate program?
You’re just required to complete 48 CE credits of our psychoanalytic psychotherapy courses, including at least three core courses (Classical Psychoanalytic Theory, Ego Psychology, Object Relations Theory, and Psychodynamics of the Therapeutic Relationship). You may complete them at your convenience and take them in the order that best suits your needs.
Are there any additional tests or fees for the certificate program?
None at all! Just take the required coursework and let us know when you’ve completed it.
I’ve completed all of the coursework for the Certificate of Advanced Study in Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy. Now what?
Simply email the Director through our contact form to have your transcript reviewed and certificate prepared. The Director will verify with you exactly how you’d like your name to appear on the certificate, your current mailing address, etc. The certificate then will take approximately 10 days to prepare. You’ll be emailed to let you know when it’s ready for mailing, along with a photo and scanned copy of the certificate for your electronic records.
I don’t reside in the United States. Can the certificate be mailed to me if I’m in another country?
Absolutely! Many of our program participants are international.
